EDUCATIONAL:
Dr. Seade (pronounced "see-AH-dee") began his studies at The University of Texas, where he ran track and was an Academic All-American. From there, his studies took him to Dallas where he earned his medical degree from UT Southwestern Medical School and completed his orthopaedic residency at Parkland Memorial Hospital.

Seeking a more in-depth study into his subspecialty, Dr. Seade was fellowship trained in San Francisco under Dr. Tom Norris, past president of The Shoulder and Elbow Society, and under Dr. Relton McCarroll, a nationally acclaimed hand and elbow surgeon. Dr. Seade's varied studies have also taken him abroad to Norwich, England, where he served as Chief Registrar of the upper extremity service.


PROFESSIONAL:
Dr. Edward Seade has a mastery of shoulder and elbow arthroscopic techniques. He is specially-trained in sports medicine and adult reconstructive surgery of the shoulder and elbow. 

He currently instructs and teaches other orthopaedic surgeon the intricate details on arthroscopic shoulder repairs.  By using arthroscopic techniques, one can perform even the most complicated shoulder surgeries through minimally invasive incisions, resulting in less pain and easier rehabilitation for patients. He is also advising a San Jose company on a new arthroscopic rotator cuff anchoring device and is a national instructor for a total shoulder prosthesis implant. Dr. Seade was the 2005 Chairman and will be the 2008 Chairman for the Annual Texas Orthopaedic Association (TOA) Meeting.  He is also the TOA Chairperson for Medical Education.

Prior to his arrival in Austin, Dr. Seade was a partner at Santa Fe Orthopaedic Associates, and was Chief of Orthopaedics at St. Vincent Hospital in Santa Fe, New Mexico. While in Santa Fe, he was also the sports medicine physician for Santa Fe Ski Patrol and Ski School.

Dr. Seade is Board Certified and holds professional memberships in the American Medical Association, Texas Medical Association, Texas Orthopaedic Association, Texas Society of Sports Medicine and Travis County Medical Society.


PERSONAL:
Still an avid runner, Dr. Seade was a member of the University of Texas track team coached by 1988 U.S. Olympic track coach Stan Huntsman.

Dr. Seade is active in many other sports, including kayaking, water skiing, mountain biking and coaching soccer. He is also bilingual, having lived 13 years in Mexico. Dr. Seade lives in Austin with his wife and three kids. They are members of Westlake United Methodist Church in Austin.
